The phrase "Tambov wolf is your comrade" has appeared in the days of the peasant’s uprising, which was led by Antonov.

In the film “The Rumyantsev’s Dossier” the phrase "Tambov wolf is your comrade!" was heard firstly and became an aphorism.

Since then, the phrase was included into the modern Russian language. Over time, it got rid of the negative connotation completely.
